Hot Part Of The Day

All I Want For Christmas...

...Is a camera, some money stuffed in a sock, and maybe a noose to hang myself. While wading through the boring mud of *shudder* economizing my life, I am realizing that all the stuff I want is pathetically out of my reach at this point. I was going to buy myself a nice digital camera as a Christmas gift…now I’m diverting that $300 to my blow off valve.

Now for some uplifting news: exhaust came in yesterday(fast shipping!) and apparently looks as sexy as the picture. Might have to wait until after Christmas to send out the harness to McKinney, but by then will have the money to purchase the driveshaft at the same time and hopefully get a deal. Get a paid half day off tomorrow from the Job so I can go home early and work on the initial intstall.

Timeline, sort of:
1. Initial Test Fit - Install motor/tranny with mount kit and new bracket. Will need to pound back firewall.
2. Engine Bay Paint Job – remove motor and send to Rob for paint.
3. New Clutch – Remove tranny and old clutch and reattach with new clutch.
4. Install Timing Belt and any other belts necessary, put on BOV.
5. Re-intall – Put the motor/tranny back in, replace all worn or cut hoses, reattach wiring harness, install drive shaft, hook up Power FC.
6. Install Radiator, fuel pump, and exhaust. Relocate battery
7. Install Intercooler and downpipe and make piping fit.
8. Put on new Wheels/tires.
9. Tune, hook up Boost Controller, turbo timer.
10. 6 point roll cage, body kit, paint…cosmetic stuff.

Yes, there you have it kids, the easy 10 step program to your very own RWD Skyline, complete with migraines and empty bank account.

Exhaust-ing Process

Thanks to Justin for finding me a great exhaust at a freakin awesome price. The Skylia will now feature an Apex'i GT-Spec 3.75" exhaust with 4.5" tip. Still seems like I haven't made a dent in the pile o' crap still on the magic list.

Still Need:
  • Spec Clutch
  • Spearco Intercooler
  • Boost Controller
  • Fuel Pump
  • Blow Off Valve
  • McKinney Driveshaft
  • Turbo Timer
  • Optima Battery (relocating to trunk)
  • Brake upgrade
  • Tires/Wheels

Wiring Is Your Friend

So McKinney Motorsports will wire together your 240sx harness to your RB26 harness for $550. I cannot describe how awesome that is. Shipping it to them this week, hopefully have it back before New Years. They are also supplying my driveshaft at another $550. My tuner/builder/boyfriend is helping me out by making me a custom downpipe to fit the swap so I avoid losing another $500 on the McKinney version. Thankfully the flanges needed for the downpipe were left on the turbos, which saves a lot of time and money.

Goal: Have car ready to race by mid February 2007.

Hot Part Of The Day

Welcome to Skylia Journal

For all of you that followed me here from the old website: kudos...ok, moving on. For the noobs: the old website was actually a required college project that I used to keep track of this project. I was very surprised when random people started to visit and leave me messages. So now that my free college web hosting has expired, I've decided to continue the site in a blog for the fans.

Introduction
I am one of the few batshit-crazies who thought it would be a good idea to put a Skyline engine into a Silvia body, thus creating a Skylia.

I've been harboring this sick fetish since 2002 and it shows no signs of fatigue. Slowly but surely I've obtained parts: car, engine, and other useful items. I've made lots of mistakes, spent lots of money, and kicked many inanimate objects/people, but it will all be worth it when it's over.

Parts So Far:

  • 1995 Nissan 240sx (S14)
  • 1997 R33 RB26DETT with harness, ecu and AWD transmission
  • Apexi Power FC and controller
  • RB25DET RWD tranny and oil pan
  • RB26 to 240sx mount kit from McKinney Motorsports
  • S15 projector headlights
  • R32 taillights
  • Wiring Diagram Manual RB26
  • Stock RB26 Air Flow Meters (a bitch to find)
  • Stock RB26 AFM connectors (courtesy of my Aussie friend Andrea)
  • The wrong AFM connectors
  • US drivers side RB26 engine mount bracket
  • Windshield weather strip

Still Need:

  • Turbo Timer
  • Tires/Wheels
  • Driveshaft for swap (McKinney Motorsports)
  • Intercooler and piping
  • Single disk clutch
  • 300ZX front brake upgrade
  • Exhaust
  • Racing Seats/Harness

Goals:

  • 11 second quarter mile on stock internals

I managed to sell off one of the wrong AFM connectors and the stock KA24 motor out of the car but as yet haven't been able to find a buyer for the AWD Skyline transmission. Even if I did I'd still be eating Ramen for six months to afford all this crap.

For a while the project stalled because I was having great difficulty finding certain parts for the engine. Now that I've got all the necessary stuff, the car will cease to be a giant paperweight and updates will be more than once a month.
